JOHN STRINGER SENTENCED IN CARDIFF FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF GIRL UNDER 13
John Stringer, a man who once served as a police officer, has been handed a significant prison sentence of ten years after being found guilty of heinous sexual offenses involving a young girl under the age of 13. The conviction was secured at Cardiff Crown Court in September, where the court heard disturbing details of his crimes and the profound impact they had on the victim.During the trial, it was established that Stringer committed a total of five counts of sexual abuse against the young girl. The court was told that his actions inflicted severe psychological trauma, leaving lasting scars on the victim’s mental health. The court proceedings revealed that Stringer, aged 43, exploited his authoritative position as a police officer to hide his illicit activities. His role within law enforcement was used as a shield to conceal his misconduct, which added a layer of betrayal to his crimes.
Following his conviction, Stringer was immediately dismissed from Gwent Police, and he was also subjected to a lifelong ban from working in policing. The presiding judge, Daniel Williams, did not hold back in condemning Stringer’s conduct, describing his actions as “odious and cynical.” The judge emphasized that Stringer posed a “high risk to female children,” highlighting the danger he represented to vulnerable members of the community.
Judge Williams also addressed Stringer’s attempt to deny his guilt, condemning it as “odious and cynical,” and underscored the devastating consequences of his actions on the victim. The young girl, who bravely came forward to share her experience, is now battling issues such as self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and a profound loss of trust in others. The judge recounted her words, stating, “she told you she did not want to do it, but you kept on and on demanding she do.”
The court acknowledged the courage of the girl in speaking out, and her personal statement painted a harrowing picture of her pain and helplessness. She expressed how difficult it has been for her to rebuild her self-esteem and trust in others after the trauma she endured.
Judge Williams further noted that Stringer’s misconduct worsened after his arrest, betraying the trust placed in him as a police officer. Law enforcement officials, including Detective Sergeant Annalisa Bartley and Chief Constable Mark Hobrough, expressed their hope that the outcome of the trial will aid the victim’s recovery process. They also emphasized that this case serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and ensuring that offenders are held accountable for their actions.
Stringer is expected to serve a minimum of five years behind bars, with the full ten-year sentence reflecting the gravity of his crimes. Authorities and community leaders hope that this case will reinforce the message that justice must be served and that protecting children remains a top priority in society.
