JOHN NYHAN FROM CLAPHAM: SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGE GIRLS NEAR CLAPHAM COMMON

A 22-year-old man named John Nyhan has been found guilty of multiple sexual assault incidents targeting teenage girls in the vicinity of Clapham Common. The disturbing series of events took place over a span of several weeks, during which Nyhan preyed on young girls walking alone after school hours.

According to detailed court reports, Nyhan’s attacks occurred during January and early February, revealing a pattern of premeditated behavior. Investigations uncovered that Nyhan had conducted research into school closing times and monitored CCTV camera locations across London, including Clapham, to identify vulnerable targets. His actions were calculated, with each assault involving him approaching the victims from behind, then inappropriately touching them by lifting their skirts and grabbing their bottoms before fleeing the scene.

One of the victims, who was targeted on January 8 at approximately 4:50 pm, managed to reach her front door and quickly entered her home after Nyhan attempted to get close to her. Her quick thinking likely prevented further harm. Another girl, assaulted on January 23 around 5:45 pm, recounted how Nyhan approached her from behind, put his hand up her skirt, and grabbed her buttocks, pushing her slightly before running off in the direction of Clapham Common. The third incident occurred on February 4 at about 4:45 pm, when Nyhan was observed on CCTV footage near Clapham Common lifting a girl’s skirt, pulling down her shorts, and grabbing her bottom.

Prosecutor Fiona Hamilton disclosed that Nyhan was employed as a kitchen assistant at Gatwick Airport. Despite having no previous criminal convictions, authorities found troubling evidence on his phone, including searches related to school closing times and locations of CCTV cameras across London. These findings suggest a calculated effort to target young girls and indicate a sexual interest in vulnerable schoolchildren.

Nyhan resides with his family in Wandsworth and is currently pursuing a mathematics degree through the Open University. During court proceedings at Wimbledon magistrates court, he pleaded guilty to the charges. He is now remanded in custody and will face sentencing at Kingston Crown Court. Law enforcement officials have emphasized that Nyhan poses a significant risk due to the premeditated nature of his crimes, his detailed searches, and his apparent sexual interest in young, vulnerable girls.
