PARANOID DUNDEE CARPET FITTER JAILED FOR SIX-YEAR STALKING CAMPAIGN
John McLaren subjected his partner to almost six years of controlling abuse, including threats towards her family, unannounced visits, following her in a van, and physical altercations.
He also made coercive and abusive messages from 2018 to 2024, and his behaviour escalated in early 2024, leading to police intervention.
McLaren, who had a previous conviction for abusive behaviour towards the same woman, was sentenced to 15 months in custody after returning to court for stalking and domestic abuse.
He had previously been under a seven-year non-harassment order but continued his harassment, which the court described as a sustained and pre-meditated course of conduct.
The sheriff noted little remorse from McLaren and expressed concern about his lack of participation in intervention programmes, indicating his motivation was primarily to avoid custodial sentencing.
