BRADFORD PENSIONER JAILED FOR KNIFE THREAT AND VIOLENT ASSAULT
A pensioner aged 66 named John McIndeor has been sentenced to prison following a series of violent and threatening actions against his former partner.
The victim, a woman in her 70s, was subjected to a terrifying ordeal involving damage to her mobility scooter and a deadly assault.
McIndeor, who had a long, troubled relationship with the woman, had previously received warnings to stay away from her but continued his violent conduct.
In August, he injured her mobility scooter by stabbing it, causing nearly £600 worth of damage.
The following day, he appeared at her home armed with a large kitchen knife, which he pressed against her throat and threatened to kill her.
When she attempted to call 999, a scuffle ensued, and she was injured when McIndeor slashed her thumb.
After the incident, he fled with her mobile phone.
The woman, in a victim impact statement, said she believed McIndeor might have actually killed her, but for the aid of a neighbor who intervened.
McIndeor pleaded guilty to making threats to kill, possession of a bladed article, assault, and criminal damage.
He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison and was made subject to an indefinite restraining order preventing contact with the victim or visiting her residence.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay nearly £800 in compensation for the damage caused and her lost phone.
His barrister, James Holding, noted his remorse and that his behavior was largely driven by binge drinking, emphasizing that he was not a habitually violent man.
