'Reclusive' John Jenkins became engrossed in a disturbing online world, sparking his twisted desires."John Jenkins, aged 24, from Spoutfield Road, Cliffe Vale, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of a child and possessing 386 prohibited images of children in September of the previous year.
During his sentencing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, the judge highlighted the epidemic of child porn in the UK.
The prosecutor, Anthony Longworth, detailed how Jenkins had stored various Category A, B, and C images on his computer.
As a result, Jenkins was sentenced to a two-year suspended prison term.
His mitigation lawyer, Catherine O’Reilly, noted that Jenkins had no previous convictions, had shown genuine remorse, and sought help immediately after arrest through counseling.
He closed down his online accounts to minimize further risks.
Jenkins received a 34-week prison sentence suspended for two years, 60 hours of unpaid labor, and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order requiring him to update police on his personal and online information.
Judge Graeme Smith remarked on the daily prevalence of such cases and emphasized that the consumption of such material fuels the demand and production of child abuse images, fostering an ongoing epidemic.
The judge also acknowledged Jenkins' admission of descending into a depraved online world, including animated images, which although illegal, do not depict real children."
