JOHN FINNIGAN FROM KILWINNING ESCAPES JAIL DESPITE CHILD ABUSE IMAGE CHARGES

In a recent court hearing held at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, John Finnigan, a 53-year-old resident of Kilwinning, was sentenced after admitting to possessing and taking indecent photographs of children. The case, which drew significant attention, involved charges related to the period between April 29, 2015, and June 22, 2017, during which Finnigan was found to have both taken and possessed such illicit images at his home located on Sundrum Place in Kilwinning.

Finnigan's guilty plea covered three specific charges, including the creation or permission of the taking of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of minors. The court was informed that during the same timeframe, he also held in his possession multiple indecent images of children, further compounding the severity of the case.

Adding to his legal troubles, Finnigan was found to have violated a bail condition by failing to appear at a court diet on June 23, 2017, without providing a reasonable excuse. This breach was also taken into account during sentencing.

Despite the gravity of the charges, Finnigan was not sentenced to prison. Instead, the sheriff ordered him to complete 300 hours of unpaid community work within a six-month period. Additionally, he was placed under supervision for a duration of three years to ensure compliance with the court's directives and to monitor his conduct moving forward.
