KILWINNING SEX OFFENDER SENT INDECENT VIDEOS TO CHILDREN
Sex offender Lee O'Regan is now awaiting sentence after sending explicit videos to the teens. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to three charges when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court earlier this week.
He admitted causing two children, then aged 14 and 15, to look at a sexual image, and communicating indecently with the pair.
He also communicated indecently with a third child, also aged 14 at the time.
All three kids were known to each other as friends from school, prosecutor Craig Wainwright told the court.
At the end of 2023, one of the teens was introduced to the Kilwinning man, of Ladyford Avenue, after joining a FaceTime call with another friend, which O'Regan was also on.
During the course of this, the pervert asked if the child 'wanted gift cards' and if they could become friends.
While the teen found O'Regan to be 'really weird', they became acquainted as he began passing on gift cards and vapes to him.
They would meet at locations in Ardrossan and Kilwinning for these to be handed over in person.
The court then heard that in early 2024, the offender messaged the child on Snapchat asking 'what would you do if I got you a gift card or a vape?'.
After they replied that they 'would say thanks', O'Regan stated: 'Oh, is that it bro.
That’s a shame.' O'Regan, who was then aged 21, then stopped providing the teen with free items.
However, in July of that year, the sex offender sent a message complaining 'I get you all this stuff and nothing in return'.
When asked what he wanted by the child, O'Regan stated he would get him a vape if he sent a picture of his 'socked feet'.
He made repeated requests of this nature and the teen complied as he 'knew it was an easy way to get new things'.
However, the teen then received a video showing O'Regan performing a sex act on himself whilst saying the child's name.
When questioned on the content, O'Regan said: 'Because you are my best bro.
I always thought you were fit and handsome.' Despite the initial video, the teen continued interactions 'because he wanted to keep receiving items'.
Messages stopped in July 2024, after the Kilwinning man sent another video which showed him touching his private areas over clothing.
Mr Wainwright added: '[He] had had enough at this point and told the accused he would be going to police if he didn’t stop.' O'Regan remained in conversations with the two other teens into August of that year, after they both accepted friend requests from him on Snapchat as they were aware of his 'gifting'.
The court was told that both boys were repeatedly sent requests to see their 'feet and socks' in exchange for gift cards and vapes - but both refused to do so.
They did, however, meet the 23-year-old on an occasion in 2024.
'Nothing untoward happened but he [O'Regan] gave them both vapes in the car,' Mr Wainwright continued.
After the meeting, the court heard that he sent one of the teens a naked image of himself and stated 'why didn’t you winch me while you were in the car'.
O'Regan was asked to stop but the following day, he sent the same boy a video of himself performing a sex act.
It was stated that he could be heard moaning the child's name 'in a sexual manner' during this.
Matters came to a head when the teen received a message from O'Regan, whilst with his aunt, speaking about purchasing a vape for him.
This caused the boy to open up to her about the offending and police were contacted.
They then spoke to all three kids involved.
O'Regan was not initially apprehended but was caught when he attended Irvine police office voluntarily.
Initially, officers were unaware why he was there but when taken for interview, he said 'I f****d up', then admitted sending explicit videos to children.
He was then arrested, cautioned and charged, again replying that he had 'f****d up'.
O'Regan was added to the sex offenders register and released on bail.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
