SPEKE PAEDOPHILE JOHN DEEVEY JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND ONLINE PREDATION IN LIVERPOOL

In November 2017, John Deevey, a man from Speke, was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of possessing and distributing a vast collection of child abuse images, as well as engaging in online predatory behavior. The case highlighted the disturbing extent of his criminal activities, which included the possession of nearly 9,000 indecent images of children and extreme pornography, some of which he had shared with other offenders.

Deevey, aged 58, was caught after an undercover police operation that uncovered his online interactions with what he believed was a 12-year-old girl. The police had set up a sting on the internet, during which Deevey engaged in highly sexualized conversations, promising to visit her in the West Midlands. He claimed he was en route to meet her but ultimately failed to show up, abruptly ending their chats. This behavior raised serious concerns about his intentions and the potential risk he posed to children.

When authorities raided Deevey’s residence in Bramhall Close, Speke, they found him sitting in his underpants and a T-shirt, viewing pornography on a large monitor connected to his laptop. The computer analysis revealed a disturbing collection of images, including active chat sites featuring teenage girls. The police investigation confirmed that Deevey had downloaded and distributed a significant number of indecent images, with some of the material classified as the most serious category of child abuse images.

During the court proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Robert Warnock described Deevey as “a dedicated and determined paedophile,” emphasizing his “unhealthy and totally unacceptable interest in young children.” The judge noted that Deevey had not only downloaded these images but also shared some with other individuals involved in similar criminal activities. Furthermore, Deevey had engaged in explicit online chats with someone he believed was a 12-year-old girl, during which he sent her “foul pictures of your genitalia” and discussed sexual activities.

The court was told that the undercover officer approached Deevey via the Kik messenger application on September 12. Deevey responded by stating that “12 is OK,” claiming to be an engineer and a bass guitarist in two bands. He even sent a photograph of himself at home, showing three guitars. Over subsequent days, their conversations continued, during which Deevey sent two explicit images of his genitals and discussed his desire to meet the girl. He arranged to meet her on September 28, claiming he was on his way in his Skoda car. However, he failed to arrive, and his messages suddenly stopped, revealing his intention to deceive.

Following the failed meeting, police officers visited Deevey’s home, where they found him sitting on his sofa, still viewing pornography. He admitted to using Kik for years, describing the platform as a space for “fantasy and role play.” Deevey claimed that the girl had told him she was 19 and insisted that he had only arranged to meet her for sex, denying any intention to carry out the act. Despite his claims, the evidence against him was overwhelming.

Deevey pleaded guilty to 11 charges, including the possession of 8,988 indecent images, with 966 classified as the most serious category. He was also convicted of distributing images across all three categories, attempting to incite sexual activity with a child, and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor. As part of his sentence, Deevey was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
