JOHN CROSS FROM MAPPERLEY SENTENCED AFTER BRUTAL ATTACK ON EX-PARTNER IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

John Cross, a 35-year-old man residing on Fletcher Terrace in Mapperley, Nottinghamshire, has been convicted of a series of violent and destructive acts directed against his former partner. The court proceedings revealed that Cross forcibly entered his ex-partner's residence by smashing a kitchen window, an act that marked the beginning of a brutal assault. Once inside, he reportedly dragged the woman to the floor, subjected her to stamping on her body, and punched her repeatedly in the face, causing her significant physical harm.

Cross admitted to the charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating during the court hearing. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage, which involved the destruction of property, and to four breaches of a restraining order that had been previously issued to prevent him from making contact with the victim. The court responded to his actions by sentencing him to a prison term of one year and nine months. To further protect the victim, a restraining order was issued for a duration of ten years, explicitly prohibiting Cross from any form of contact or communication with her.

Nottinghamshire Police officials emphasized that this incident was not an isolated event. They pointed out that Cross had previously attacked the same woman twice within a span of three days in September of the previous year, highlighting a pattern of violent behavior. Detective Sergeant Hannah Frame commented on the case, stating, "Cross subjected his victim to a string of horrifying ordeals over the years, and it’s very fortunate she has not been more seriously hurt."
