JEROME MACALLA, THE DANGEROUS PREDATOR FROM SHEFFIELD, SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND THREATS

Jerome Macalla, a 33-year-old man originally from Acocks Green, has been convicted of heinous crimes committed in Sheffield. The case revealed a disturbing incident where Macalla assaulted a woman inside her own home, using violence and intimidation to carry out a brutal sexual attack.

According to court proceedings, Macalla overpowered the victim, forcibly restraining her and locking her inside her residence. During the assault, he placed a pillow over her face, attempting to suffocate her, while subjecting her to a vile and non-consensual sexual act. Throughout the ordeal, Macalla issued chilling threats, explicitly stating that he would decapitate her if she dared to report the attack to the police. He also threatened to shoot her in the face and to make her life a living hell if she contacted law enforcement authorities.

The victim, overwhelmed with fear and trauma, managed to escape the situation and fled to a friend's house in an attempt to seek safety. The incident drew the attention of police, leading to Macalla's arrest on June 17 of the previous year. He was caught attempting to break into the victim’s home with a shovel, an act that further underscored his dangerous and aggressive behavior.

Following his arrest, Macalla faced multiple charges, including rape, harassment, criminal damage, sending threatening messages, possession of cannabis, and driving while disqualified. While he admitted to some of these charges—specifically, driving while disqualified, criminal damage, and possession of cannabis—he vehemently denied the allegations of rape and harassment.

The case was brought before Sheffield Crown Court, where the jury found Macalla guilty of the serious charges of rape and harassment. On January 31, the court sentenced him to a lengthy prison term of 12 years.

During the sentencing, Officer Pc Katie Walker commended the victim for her remarkable bravery in the face of such a terrifying ordeal. She emphasized that Macalla is a dangerous predator responsible for causing significant suffering.

As part of his punishment, Macalla has been placed on the sex offenders' register for life and is subject to an indefinite restraining order preventing any contact with the victim. The sentencing aims to send a strong message that violent and predatory behavior will not be tolerated within the community, and it is intended to help the victim begin the process of healing and moving forward with her life.
