JEREMY SPICER OF MALVERN CAUGHT WITH CHILD AND ANIMAL PORN AT ARNCOTT BASE NEAR BICESTER

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns about security and morality, Jeremy Spicer, a senior employee of the Ministry of Defence, was found to possess a horrifying collection of child pornography and bestiality videos. The incident came to light in August 2010 when Spicer, a married man and father of one, inadvertently revealed his illegal stash after dropping three memory sticks at the military facility where he was employed.

Spicer, aged 51 and residing on Manby Road in Malvern, was working as a technician at the Arncott military base near Bicester, Oxfordshire. His involvement in the case was uncovered after a senior civil servant discovered the three memory sticks lying on the grass in the secure parking area of the base. Recognizing the potential seriousness of the find, the civil servant promptly handed the devices over to Ministry of Defence police authorities.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the memory sticks, which had been traced back to Spicer, contained a disturbing array of illegal images and videos. Police conducted extensive searches of his workplace, residence, vehicle, and even the properties of his mother and brother. The searches uncovered multiple illegal files stored on two of Spicer’s work laptops, his office computer, and on discs found in his briefcase and desk drawer.

Among the most heinous content were three videos depicting acts of bestiality. The child pornography collection was even more extensive, comprising 55 videos and 391 images. Of these images, 40 were classified as level four out of five in terms of severity, indicating a high degree of depravity. The material was so disturbing that it was viewed by Judge Christopher Compston during the court proceedings.

During police interviews, Spicer admitted to owning the illegal images. He claimed that his interest was driven by curiosity and attempted to justify some of the content as artistic. Prosecutor Matthew Corrie highlighted the gravity of the case, emphasizing the widespread nature of the illegal material and the potential harm it represented.

In his defense, lawyer David Bright expressed concern for Spicer’s family, mentioning his wife and daughter, who was attending university. He also pointed out that the ten-month period between Spicer’s arrest and sentencing had been a form of punishment in itself. Despite still being employed by the MoD at the time, Spicer indicated he would resign if he was not dismissed from his position.

Ultimately, Judge Christopher Compston sentenced Spicer to 15 months in prison, suspended for two years. Additionally, Spicer was ordered to pay costs amounting to £2,000, to register as a sex offender, and to adhere to a sexual offences prevention order for five years. The judge expressed grave concern about the potential lifelong impact on any children depicted in the illegal material, stating, “Goodness knows whether these children, if they are boy or girl, may be corrupted for the rest of their lives.”

MoD officials declined to specify whether Spicer had been dismissed from his role, with MoD police spokesperson Steve Partridge stating, “The MoD police is satisfied that its investigation has resulted in the conviction of an offender.” The case has left a lasting stain on the reputation of the military facility and underscores the ongoing battle against such heinous crimes.
