JEFFERY PINCOMBE'S HORRIFIC ABUSE IN TIVERTON: EXETER CROWN COURT SENTENCE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Tiverton, Jeffery Pincombe, a 65-year-old man residing on Amory Road, was convicted of multiple counts of sexual abuse involving young girls under his care.The allegations date back to the early 2000s, with the most recent charges relating to incidents between 2003 and 2009.
Pincombe faced a total of eight charges of sexual activity with minors, all under the age of 13, but was ultimately found guilty of six of these counts after a trial at Exeter Crown Court.
The court heard that during the period in question, Pincombe engaged in inappropriate and criminal sexual acts with three young girls, whose ages ranged from seven to twelve years old.
One particularly distressing incident involved Pincombe sexually abusing an eight-year-old girl while they were watching a Grand Prix on television, a detail that underscored the disturbing nature of his misconduct.
The court was told that the abuse took place in private settings such as bathrooms and bedrooms, often when Pincombe was responsible for looking after the children.
Throughout the proceedings, Pincombe maintained his innocence, denying eight charges of sexual activity with a child.
However, the jury found him guilty of six counts, including four counts of sexual assault or engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, which he denied but was convicted of.
Additionally, he was found guilty of indecent assault on a second girl, with the abuse occurring between 2003 and 2005, despite his denials.
Furthermore, Pincombe was convicted of one of two charges related to sexual activity with a third girl, with incidents spanning from 2004 to 2006.
The court's verdict highlighted the predatory nature of his actions, with Judge Phillip Wassall condemning Pincombe for taking advantage of situations where he was left alone with the children.
