VOICE STAR JEFF ANDERSON AVOIDS JAIL AFTER SECRETLY RECORDING WOMEN FOR SEXUAL GRATIFICATION
Jeff Anderson, a former contestant on TV talent show The Voice, who secretly recorded women for his own sexual gratification, was spared jail today. He pleaded guilty to 11 counts of voyeurism spanning from 2005 to 2013, and admitted sexually assaulting a woman. The court heard this assault occurred between January 1, 2012, and March 11, 2012, against a backdrop where there was no consciousness or ability to participate. Additionally, Anderson admitted to assaulting another woman causing her actual bodily harm between October 21 and 31, 2015. Anderson was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for three years, and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years as well as a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order. During the hearing, a victim stated, "I feel sick, sickened and disgusted that this creep was not jailed today. What he did has haunted me for years - and I am not alone." Another victim said, "Any sense of privacy and security I ever had was destroyed by Jeff Anderson when he secretly recorded me in a bathroom." The judge acknowledged Anderson’s past fame as a contestant on The Voice and his work in musical theater, including a stint in Jesus Christ Superstar. Detectives from PSNI welcomed the conviction, emphasizing that Anderson’s acts of secretly filming victims were for his own sexual satisfaction, and that no one has the right to film others without their consent. The court highlighted that Anderson's misconduct has caused significant emotional distress to his victims, with some being teenagers and others recorded doing private acts in bathrooms. Anderson, from Newtownards, continues to work in the entertainment industry, currently writing jingles for his father's advertising company. The police remain committed to investigating sexual offences and encouraging victims to come forward.
