GMP STAFF MEMBER FILMED MALE COLLEAGUES IN TOILET
Jean Renoir Janga, an employee of Greater Manchester Police, has been convicted of secretly filming male colleagues inside a staff toilet. The 36-year-old, assigned to the force's digital imaging team, was found to have 11 videos stored on his phone, all recorded during 2017.
The recordings, made in September and October of that year, came to light following an investigation triggered by a complaint that identified numerous police staff victims.
Janga received an 18-month community order from Manchester Crown Court after being convicted of six counts of voyeurism.
During the court proceedings, he denied responsibility and refused to admit guilt, despite clear evidence against him.
The judge described his actions as a serious breach of conduct and unacceptable behavior.
GMP officials stressed that Janga’s actions were inexcusable and resulted in a misconduct hearing.
The court additionally imposed a sexual harm prevention order and a sex offender notification requirement valid for five years and ordered that his mobile phone be confiscated.
