STOCKTON WOMAN AND MAN FACE COURT OVER CHILD CRUELTY CHARGES
A man and woman have appeared in court charged with child cruelty.Jean Gasho, aged 41, and Kofi Offeh, aged 35, were brought before Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday, July 15, both facing a charge of child cruelty.
The pair, of Yarm Lane, Stockton, were arrested after police conducted a 'complex' investigation involving community members, the council, and NHS authorities.
During the short hearing on Monday, Gasho and Offeh did not enter any pleas, and their case was adjourned to Teesside Crown Court.
They were remanded in custody until an upcoming hearing scheduled for August 12.
Police assured the public that there is 'no threat or risk to the safety of the community,' and expressed confidence that the welfare of others connected to the case is no longer a concern.
Police also confirmed that they had concluded operations at the property on Yarm Lane.
The investigation involved a significant police presence, including CSI teams, and a cordon was placed outside the address last week.
