CARDIFF OFFENDER JAYDON FINCH-COLES SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND PREVIOUS ASSAULT
A vicious thug subjected his former partner to a terrifying ordeal while her baby slept nearby.At the time of incident Jaydon Finch-Coles was the subject of a suspended sentence following another "sickening" violent attack.
During the sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, it was heard how Finch-Coles, 24, barged his way into the bathroom of his ex-partner's home on January 13 this year, where he pinned her down and beat her.
Prosecutor Alice Sykes stated that he pinned the victim on the floor and stood on her.
When the victim managed to escape, Finch-Coles pinned her again near her stairs, while she feared he might push her down.
He also tried to seize her phone to prevent her from calling the police.
Ms Sykes recounted that Finch-Coles pulled out a large knife and held it to his side, saying: 'It's your fault I'm going to kill myself.' Throughout this terrifying incident, CCTV footage confirmed that her baby was sleeping inside the property.
The victim asked Finch-Coles to leave and called the police.
During the attack, he also cut the wire of her air fryer, which had cost her £70.
Finch-Coles had previously pleaded guilty to assault by beating and criminal damage.
He had a suspended sentence at the time of this offense.
In September 2023, Finch-Coles was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, after he elbowed a shopkeeper in the face and broke his jaw in Cardiff in February 2021, resulting in a two-day hospital stay.
During the recent sentencing, Judge Niclas Parry called Finch-Coles' actions "sickening".
His defense lawyer argued for full credit due to his guilty pleas, citing his difficult upbringing and struggles with relationships.
Finch-Coles has a record with 12 previous convictions for 15 offenses including common assault and criminal damage.
The court sentenced him to a total of 14 months, with 2 months for the recent incident and 12 months for the 2021 assault, halved to 12 months for good behavior.
