JAYCE SIMPSON SENTENCED IN JEDBURGH FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

A 29-year-old man, Jayce Simpson, has been sentenced after being convicted of possessing child abuse images. He was arrested in Jedburgh on 24 February 2021 during a police investigation. Simpson admitted to the charges at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on 9 November 2021. Following his plea, he was sentenced on 20 December to two years in prison.

Detective Inspector Adrian Ure of the National Child Abuse Investigation Unit of Police Scotland commented: “Simpson demonstrated a complete and utter contempt for the child victims depicted in the images he was viewing. He also thought his behaviour would go unnoticed, believing the internet would give him anonymity. However, he was discovered and is now facing a custodial sentence for his actions.

‘Any form of child sexual abuse is a serious criminal offence and remains a high priority for Police Scotland. If anyone has concerns about a child being at risk of abuse or a potential victim, they are urged to contact police immediately.’
