DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR COWARDLY ASSAULT AND ROBBERY OF ELDERLY WOMAN
Jason White, 34 years old, received a four-year jail term after he targeted an 80-year-old woman from behind while she was crossing Albert Street in Dundee.He forcibly took her handbag, causing her to trip and incur severe injuries to her head and face.
The woman was subsequently hospitalized at Ninewells Hospital.
An investigation led to White’s arrest on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023.
He admitted guilt to charges of assault leading to serious injury and endangering life, along with robbery.
His sentencing took place during a court hearing on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024.
Detective Constable Shaunni Morris described the incident as "a cowardly and cruel robbery where White deliberately targeted an elderly woman as she attempted to cross the street." Morris emphasized that the sentence aims to reassure the public and demonstrate that law enforcement will pursue individuals involved in theft and violence.
The case attracted considerable public interest in Dundee, with officials reaffirming their commitment to community safety.
