JASON WARDLE FROM HEANOR SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN DERBYSHIRE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Heanor and the wider Derbyshire area, Jason Wardle has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of heinous child sexual abuse-related crimes. The proceedings at Derby Crown Court revealed a series of deeply troubling actions committed by Wardle, who actively engaged in encouraging and facilitating the sexual exploitation of children, with full knowledge of the abuse being carried out by others.

According to court reports, Wardle’s criminal activities came to light following the arrest of Abraham Berger in London. Berger, who was identified as an extremely active participant in online paedophile groups, was apprehended and subsequently sentenced to 14 years in prison. During police investigations, Berger shared explicit images on the online chat platform Kick, depicting him sexually abusing very young children. In one of the messages, Berger explicitly expressed his enjoyment of being a paedophile, stating, “I love being a paedophile.”

Following Berger’s arrest, authorities in the Metropolitan Police contacted Derbyshire Police after discovering Wardle’s online user profile, which bore the username “daddy feels it.” This profile was used during chats with Berger, linking Wardle directly to the disturbing exchanges. The police identified Wardle’s IP address as originating from a garage where he was employed, leading to his arrest on September 23, 2020. During the investigation, Wardle claimed to have been involved in the sexual abuse of two young children himself, and he encouraged Berger to distribute the images online, further implicating him in the cycle of abuse.

Recorder Michael Auty QC addressed Wardle directly, emphasizing the severity of his involvement. He explained that Berger’s arrest in London revealed a pattern of participation in paedophile chat groups, where he fantasized about abusing young children and distributed images depicting such acts. Wardle’s enthusiastic participation in these chats, under the username “daddy feels it,” was seen as a clear indication of his depraved mindset. The judge pointed out that Wardle actively encouraged Berger to commit acts of child sexual abuse, with much of their communication being fantasy, but with a dangerous crossover into reality when Wardle requested photographic evidence of the abuse.

Prosecutor Alan Murphy detailed the extent of Wardle’s crimes, revealing that police seized his devices during his arrest and discovered over 4,000 indecent images of children. Among these were some depicting children as young as four years old being raped by adults. The court also noted that Wardle had a prior conviction in 2014, when he was jailed for 20 months after being found in possession of indecent images. This history underscored the ongoing nature of his offending.

Wardle, who resides on Derby Road in Heanor, pleaded guilty to charges of arranging a child sex offence and breaching a sexual offending prevention order. His sentence was set at 10 years in prison, with an additional two-year extension, and he was ordered to serve at least two-thirds of the custodial period before being eligible for parole. The court’s decision reflects the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to children.

This case echoes a previous incident from February 2014, when Wardle, then 29, was jailed for 20 months after being caught with images of babies being sexually abused. Police had raided his home and workplace, uncovering a collection of illegal images. Judge Michael Fowler condemned Wardle’s perverted obsession, warning that unless he sought help, he would continue to commit such offences, facing increasingly severe sentences. Wardle’s history of offending highlights the persistent danger he represents, and the community remains vigilant against such disturbing threats to children’s safety.
