CARDIFF MAN LEFT WOMAN 'COVERED IN BLOOD' AFTER PUNCHING AND HEADBUTTING HER
A man named Jason Talbot, aged 37 from Cardiff, assaulted his partner on July 28 of the previous year by punching her in the face, headbutting her, and pushing her to the ground, resulting in a cut on her knee. The victim reported that she punched Talbot once in self-defence during the attack.
The incident came to light when a neighbour, upon seeing the injured and distressed woman emerging from her home covered in blood, called emergency services.
Prosecutor Alex Granville explained that the woman sustained a concussion, a black eye, facial swelling, and a broken nose.
Following his arrest, Talbot told officers, "This is why you end up getting hurt because you c**** mishandle me." It was revealed that Talbot had a history of harassment towards the victim, including sending offensive messages following attempts to block him across various platforms.
Specifically, he made 1p transactions to her bank account from his Monzo account, accompanied by messages such as "I want my stuff" and "read the message c***." He also sent voice messages calling her "slag" and saying "karma is a b****." Talbot, who resides on Walker Road in Splott, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, claiming the victim was blocking his efforts to leave.
He has three previous convictions, including violent offences, driving incidents, and criminal damage.
During sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court, Judge Paul Hobson characterized the assault as a "thoroughly unpleasant incident" and criticized Talbot for his behavior towards someone he should have shown care and respect for.
Talbot received a 10-month prison sentence and was previously subject to a 12-month restraining order.
