2015; BRIERLEY HILL THUG JAILED FOR HOLDING A KNIFE TO FORMER GIRLFRIEND'S FACE
A BRIERLEY Hill thug who punched his ex-girlfriend before holding a kitchen knife against her face has been locked up for a year.Jason Plant – described as having a “terrible” list of previous convictions – was told by Judge James Burbidge he still “had a lot of growing up to do”.
Plant, who has 22 previous convictions on his criminal record, had been in a “volatile” relationship with the victim.
Prosecutor Alex Warren told Wolverhampton Crown Court they had been arguing and Plant smashed a glass on a coffee table.
He was then verbally abusive as he threatened her with the knife before she was able to alert the police.
But when Plant, aged 20, discovered she had made a 999 call he punched her on the left side of the cheek.
Plant, of Raven Court, Brierley Hill, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and the judge sent him to a young offenders institution to serve his sentence.
Stephen Hamblett, for Plant, said: “He is a young man with a terrible record of convictions for someone who is still only 20 years of age.” He told the court that Plant had been in the care system since he was 12 and he had been breaking the law since he was 13 years of age.
