MABLETHORPE MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE.
At Lincoln Crown Court, it was reported that 38-year-old Jason Madin was detained after an assault that involved lifting his partner by her ears and briefly strangling her.Madin had gone back to his partner’s home following two prior police interventions at the same address.
Prosecutor Hal Ewing outlined that the incidents happened on January 28th, during a dispute over garden structures including decking and a summer house.
The victim contacted authorities in the early afternoon after Madin aimed a pair of craft scissors at her eye.
Although he was allowed to leave initially, Madin was seen later that day climbing over the garden fence to collect gardening tools.
Police went back to the property when Madin was again asked to leave, and following that, the couple exchanged texts and phone calls.
During a recorded phone call, Madin made insulting remarks, as explained by Mr Ewing.
The victim then discovered her rear windshield wiper was missing after learning Madin was outside; he then suddenly appeared from a side alley.
She recounted being abruptly lifted by her ears and briefly held around the neck.
Judge Sjolin Knight highlighted that Madin was shouting during the episode.
Police responded, Madin was taken into custody, and he later denied any assault during interviews.
The defendant, without a fixed address, admitted to harassment causing fear of violence on the day in question.
It was revealed that Madin had previously been given an 18-month suspended sentence for an assault on this same woman in 2021.
The victim, in her statement, said she now stays mostly inside her home, even though Madin is incarcerated.
Madin’s lawyer, Miss Summers, explained that the defendant initially sought reconciliation.
She added that Madin has maintained sobriety for three and a half years and wishes to return to Chesterfield to live with his mother.
Miss Summers argued that a suspended sentence would be appropriate, as Madin has served roughly seven months in custody.
Judge Sjolin Knight commented that the act of strangulation had a profound impact, leaving the victim afraid Madin might come back.
Despite the domestic protection order having expired just before this incident, she noted that the behavior was intense.
Additionally, a restraining order was imposed to bar Madin from contacting the victim and visiting her residence at Kings Court, Mablethorpe.
