BUSINESSMAN CONVICTED OF RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT IN TILBURY
A promising young businessman, Jason Levins, aged 25, was found guilty of raping a 20-year-old woman at a house party in Tilbury on May 4.The jury took four days of deliberation to reach this verdict.
Levins, who is the director of the South Essex limousine and party bus company Shuttle Club, was also convicted of two additional counts of sexual assault against the same woman at the party.
Furthermore, he was found guilty of groping a 21-year-old woman at Jumpin Jacks nightclub in Basildon on March 6.
During the court proceedings, it was highlighted that Levins, from Church Lane, Purfleet, had brought alcohol to the house party, poured drinks for the victims, and then raped the 20-year-old after helping her to bed.
He was acquitted of one count of sexual assault and groping others, but convicted on four counts including the most serious.
The judge, Graham, stated, “You have been convicted by this jury on four counts including the most serious count.
I’m going to adjourn the case for a pre-sentencing report, but a lengthy custodial sentence is inevitable.” He praised the jury for their careful consideration and indicated that Levins would be sentenced on December 20 at Basildon Crown Court, with a lengthy prison term likely.
