CARDIFF MAN JASON JONES JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SERIOUS ASSAULT
A 34-year-old man from Cardiff, named Jason Jones, was convicted of severe domestic violence charges.His assaults included pressing a kitchen knife against his partner’s throat, biting her nose to cause bleeding, and beginning to choke her.
The victim recounted how Jones’s behavior transformed her from a confident individual into one filled with fear.
Towards the end of their relationship, he attacked her on two occasions, with the final incident involving a knife threat.
On one of these occasions, he verbally abused her, calling her a 'f****** slut' when she chose not to walk their dog.
He also smashed an egg on her car’s windscreen and threw a mobile phone at her face.
In another attack, he pushed her back and pressed a knife against her face, threatening her with, 'Slut, how dare you speak to my family, never speak to my family again.' He then pushed her onto the sofa and placed his hands around her neck, causing her to cough.
Notably, he bit her nose, puncturing the skin and causing bleeding.
The victim contacted police after Jones left their home.
During court proceedings, Jones admitted to the charges of strangulation and assault causing actual bodily harm.
He has a prior conviction for battery for assaulting an ex-partner.
Jones received a sentence of 68 weeks in prison along with a five-year restraining order.
A victim personal statement read in court expressed her deep emotional trauma, revealing she has become almost a 'scared person' and suffers from anxiety.
The judge condemned Jones’s behavior as cowardly and emphasized that attacking a woman is an act of cowardice.
Jones, who also has epilepsy, expressed remorse during sentencing, stating, 'I understand, I understand, I understand, I understand big b****** man.
Let's get on with it.'
