JASON FRY GROOMER FROM FAVERSHAM SENTENCED FOR ABHORRENT SEXUAL ABUSE IN MAIDSTONE

In a case that has shocked the local community of Faversham and the surrounding areas, Jason Fry has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl he had groomed over a period of time. The incident, which took place in November 2013, involved a series of deeply disturbing offences that caused significant psychological trauma to the victim.

Fry, aged 46 and residing at The Barn, Throwley, Faversham, was convicted of seven counts of sexual activity, two counts of indecent assault, and two additional serious sexual offences. The court heard that the abuse began with Fry initiating physical contact through kissing, which gradually escalated into more explicit sexual acts. Prosecutor Charles Evans described how the young girl, who was underage at the time, was initially frightened and reluctant to resist, but felt unable to speak out due to Fry’s manipulative tactics.

According to Mr. Evans, Fry exploited the girl’s vulnerability by warning her not to disclose what was happening and even threatening to take his own life if she told anyone. This coercive behavior left her feeling trapped, and she believed her only option was to comply with his demands. The grooming process was characterized by Fry’s controlling and manipulative conduct, which left the victim feeling powerless and scared.

The situation worsened when Fry asked the girl to have sex with him, and she, feeling pressured and afraid, agreed. The offender continued to threaten her, emphasizing that she must keep their relationship secret. The prosecutor highlighted that Fry’s actions were part of a pattern of grooming, designed to dominate and manipulate the young girl into submission.

The case took a further turn when the victim attempted to establish a relationship with another man, which enraged Fry. His anger led him to try to interfere with her new relationship, further demonstrating his controlling nature. Unable to endure the ongoing abuse and intimidation, the girl eventually reported the matter to the police.

During police questioning in January, Fry initially dismissed the allegations as “absolute rubbish” and denied all accusations. It was only as the trial approached that he admitted to some of the offences, though he maintained that the sexual acts were consensual, claiming they were based on mutual attraction. The court, however, found that the victim’s consent was given under the influence of grooming, manipulation, and coercion, which rendered her unable to give genuine consent.

Judge Martin Joy sentenced Fry to an extended sentence for public protection, which will see him serve at least two-thirds of his 12-year term before being considered for parole. Additionally, Fry will be on licence for a further two years after his release. The judge emphasized the severity of Fry’s actions, stating, “What happened between you was deeply abhorrent to ordinary people. She must have regarded you as a monster.”

Fry’s name will be permanently registered on the sex offenders’ register, reflecting the gravity of his crimes. The court expressed concern that Fry’s fascination with children and his manipulative behavior pose ongoing risks, and the victim’s fears that he might seek to contact her after his release were acknowledged. Prosecutor Charles Evans expressed hope that the sentence would help alleviate some of her fears and provide her with some measure of justice and protection.
