JASON BRADSHAW FROM RAYLEIGH AND BUNTINGFORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGE GIRL IN BUNTINGFORD

In September 2016, a serious criminal case unfolded involving Jason Bradshaw, a man from Rayleigh, Essex, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Buntingford. The incident took place during a night when the young victim was staying over at a residence in Buntingford, a small town known for its historic charm and close-knit community.

According to court proceedings at St Albans Crown Court, Bradshaw, aged 46 at the time, had been consuming alcohol prior to the incident. Around 4 a.m., he entered the room where the teenage girl was sleeping alongside three of her friends. The court heard that Bradshaw's actions were invasive and unwarranted, leading to a distressing encounter for the young victim.

Prosecutor Duncan O’Donnell described how the girl awoke to find herself being touched inappropriately by Bradshaw. In a moment of fear and confusion, she used her mobile phone's torch to illuminate the situation, only to see Bradshaw pretending to be asleep. This disturbing event left a lasting impact on the girl, who later provided a victim personal statement. She revealed that she now sleeps with the light on and expressed concern that Bradshaw, who now resides at Weir Garden in Rayleigh, needs professional help to address his behavior.

Bradshaw pleaded guilty to the charge of assault by penetration on August 9 of the previous year. His guilty plea was accepted by the court, leading to his sentencing. Judge Plumstead, presiding over the case, condemned Bradshaw's actions, stating, "You have harmed this young girl. I hope she will get over it. She did nothing to deserve it. You should be ashamed of yourself." The judge also highlighted concerns about Bradshaw's character, noting that he appeared to have an 'unhealthy interest in young girls.'

In addition to the prison sentence of two years and three months, Bradshaw was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his behavior and protect the community. Furthermore, he is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure that underscores the seriousness of his offense and the ongoing risk he poses to society. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals and the judicial system's commitment to holding offenders accountable.
