Bristol man exposed himself and rubbed genitals on store worker in Bristol city centre

BRISTOL MAN EXPOSED HIMSELF AND RUBBED GENITALS ON STORE WORKER IN BRISTOL CITY CENTRE

A Bristol man named Jaromir Gowin must serve 200 hours of unpaid work and 40 rehabilitation activity days after he admitted to outraging public decency in a city centre store.

The court heard that the 35-year-old, of Timber Dene in Stapleton, pulled down his trousers, exposed his genitals, and twice wiped them on an employee’s hand.

Prosecutor Paul Kelly stated during the hearing that Gowin's actions occurred around 5pm on May 19 of the previous year, initially suspected of shoplifting.

Mr Kelly detailed: “A verbal argument ensued between the shop staff and the defendant.

The defendant is described as pulling his trousers down.

He was then seen to approach [a member of staff], and to rub his genitals on their left hand on two occasions.” Gowin later returned to the store on June 5 but left before being caught.

He was detained during a subsequent visit on June 13, where he was further identified by a distinctive white mark on his head.

He appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on March 30 for sentencing, where he was ordered to pay £100 in compensation, a £95 victim services surcharge, and £85 in prosecution costs.

Gowin's lawyer clarified that he has a history of drug-related offending in Poland and was homeless at the time of the incident, heavily dependent on amphetamine.

His mother expressed support and noted that post-Covid, he was placed in a Holiday Inn and later secured accommodation via the Bristol Compass service.

The court was told that his drug issues were currently in abeyance.
