KIRKBY SEX OFFENDER JAMIE SCOTT EXPOSES HIMSELF TO TEENAGE GIRLS NEAR FAZAKERLEY

In February 2017, a disturbing incident unfolded in Kirkby involving Jamie Scott, a man with a troubling history of indecent exposure. The incident took place on August 16 of the previous year, when Scott, aged 29 and residing on Nathan Grove, engaged in inappropriate and criminal behavior in the vicinity of Cherryfield Drive.

According to reports presented at Liverpool Crown Court, Scott stopped his vehicle on Cherryfield Drive and approached two teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, asking them for directions to Fazakerley. The girls provided him with the directions, but instead of heading in the correct direction, Scott drove off in the opposite way. He then made a U-turn at Wellfield Avenue, where he stopped his car once again and beckoned the girls over.

Prosecutor Neville Biddle described the scene: “He again asked for directions and was smiling at them.” It was during this encounter that the 15-year-old girl noticed Scott was engaging in inappropriate behavior—specifically, that he was exposing himself and masturbating. She nudged her friend, who also saw what Scott was doing. The girls, understandably distressed, decided to seek help and went to a relative’s home, where they contacted the police.

Scott was promptly arrested following the report. During police interviews, he claimed that he had “just been adjusting himself,” denying any act of masturbation. Despite his denial, he pleaded guilty to charges of exposure, breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, and driving without insurance and a valid license.

Liverpool Crown Court was informed that Scott has a criminal record that includes two previous convictions for indecent exposure and two breaches of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order. He has previously served time in prison for these offenses.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones sentenced Scott to 30 weeks in jail. In his remarks, the judge stated, “You lay in wait and called them over while you were masturbating.” He acknowledged that, fortunately, the two teenage victims were not traumatised by the incident. However, the judge warned of the potential harm such offenses could cause, especially to more vulnerable victims.

As part of his sentence, Scott was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years. Additionally, he received six penalty points on his driving license, reflecting the seriousness of his driving violations during the incident.
