2009: MAN JAILED FOR PESTERING GIRLFRIEND
A 26-year-old man has been incarcerated for nine months after repeatedly bothering his former partner and damaging her property.
Jamie McCollum admitted to violating a non-molestation order concerning Georgina Rogers and breaching a suspended sentence related to vandalism.
Residing in Russell Close, Malvern, McCollum had a two-year relationship with Miss Rogers, with whom they have a young son, the court heard from prosecutor Peter Grice at Worcester Crown Court.
The relationship ended last November when a non-molestation order was issued by the county court.
They briefly rekindled their relationship from February for two months before separating again.
Mr.
Grice told the court that on April 15, McCollum arrived at Miss Rogers' flat in the early morning hours, drunk, attempting to gain entry.
He climbed onto a roof and broke a window during the attempt.
Defense counsel Simon Phillips pointed out McCollum’s history of convictions involving the same woman and his unwillingness to accept that the relationship had ended.
Despite this, she had been writing to him while he was in custody.
Judge John Cavell commented that McCollum was set for early release, having served 115 days in remand, but warned that continued offending could result in harsher sentences.
