MOSTON MAN JAMIE INGHAM SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Moston, Jamie Ingham, a 31-year-old man, was found to be in possession of hundreds of indecent images and videos depicting children. The investigation was initiated after authorities identified his email address during an inquiry into online child exploitation in the summer of 2019. This led to a warrant being executed at his residence on Scarborough Street in Moston in July of that year.

During the police raid, officers observed Ingham attempting to conceal his mobile phone, which raised suspicions about the contents stored on it. Despite being detained and questioned, Ingham refused to provide the password to unlock his device, complicating the investigation. He was subsequently released under investigation but was re-arrested in November 2019 after officers discovered a second mobile phone during a follow-up search. Both devices were seized and examined.

The forensic analysis revealed a horrifying collection of illegal content: a total of 291 images classified as Category A, 157 as Category B, and 400 as Category C. The images and videos depicted children aged between three and thirteen years old. Among the most disturbing findings was an image showing a child between three and six years old, who was naked and appeared visibly distressed. The court was informed that the images portrayed some of the most depraved acts involving minors, highlighting the severity of the offense.

Throughout the investigation, Ingham remained silent when questioned by police, and it was discovered that he had attempted to delete evidence from his phone, indicating an awareness of the illicit nature of his activities. Despite the gravity of the case, Ingham pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children in court.

In sentencing, Recorder Anthony O’Donohoe emphasized the heinous nature of the images, stating, “These are not just virtual images on the internet. They are images of the worst kind of depravity, cruelty and harm. Real children out there in the world are suffering because of the appetite for this sort of content.”

As part of his punishment, Ingham was handed a three-year community order and placed under three years of supervision, during which he is required to attend a sex offenders’ group programme. Additionally, he was subjected to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, ordered to complete 250 hours of unpaid work, and to participate in ten days of rehabilitation activities. The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from such heinous crimes.
