JAMIE GILLETTE'S REIGN OF CRIME IN REDHILL AND REIGATE: SURREY MAN SENT BACK TO PRISON
Jamie Gillette, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses involving underage girls, has once again found himself behind bars. The 26-year-old, who resides on Beckenham Road in Beckenham, was previously sentenced to four years and six months in prison in October 2018 after pleading guilty to multiple serious charges. These included the sexual assault of a girl under the age of 13, engaging in sexual activities with a girl under 16, and two counts of sexual activity with a girl under 16 involving penetration. His criminal behavior was characterized by predatory tactics, as he targeted children through social media platforms. Court proceedings revealed that Gillett engaged in non-consensual sexual acts with minors and exhibited threatening, controlling, and obsessive behaviors towards his victims. His actions caused significant harm and distress to the young girls he exploited.
Most recently, on Monday, December 18, 2023, Gillett appeared at the Old Bailey to face charges related to breaching a sexual harm prevention order that had previously been imposed upon him. During the hearing, Gillett addressed the court directly, stating, “I have hurt another innocent person. I know I am better than this.”
Judge Anthony Leonard presided over the case and expressed his concerns about Gillett’s ongoing disregard for court orders. In his sentencing remarks, the judge emphasized that Gillett’s repeated violations demonstrated a troubling pattern of behavior. “Whilst I take into account that you realize you have hurt another victim, I do not believe this realisation will stop you from offending in the future,” Judge Leonard said.
Recognizing the need to both punish Gillett and protect the public, particularly women and girls, the judge sentenced him to an additional two years and nine months in prison. The case underscores the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Gillett, whose actions continue to have devastating impacts on their victims and the community at large in Surrey, including the towns of Redhill and Reigate.
