SHEFFIELD RAPIST JAMIE WARD SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC ABUSE

An evil rapist who subjected a teenage girl to "horrendous sexual abuse" will be behind bars for nearly 20 years.

Jamie Aron Ward, formerly of Thompson Hill in Sheffield, abused his vulnerable victim when she was under 16-years-old.

South Yorkshire Police state Ward preyed upon the girl, raping and sexually assaulting her, and forcing her to engage in horrific sexual acts.

His victim bravely came forward and reported the abuse upon reaching adulthood.

Ward, now 38, was found guilty of 10 offences at Sheffield Crown Court last month, including two counts of rape, three counts of attempted rape, and five counts of sexual assault.

He was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Wednesday.

Detective Constable Peter Bazley from Sheffield's Protecting Vulnerable People team stated: "The victim in this case was a young, vulnerable teenager who Ward preyed upon and subjected to horrendous sexual abuse.

Over a prolonged period, Ward raped and sexually assaulted the victim, forcing her to engage in horrific sexual acts.

Ward’s abuse was so significant and damaging that it was only as an adult that the victim felt brave enough to disclose what had happened to her as a child.

I want to commend the victim in this case for her courage in coming forward, and I am glad she trusted us to bring Ward before the courts." Ward was also subjected to an 18-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a restraining order, and was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
