ROTHERHAM MAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT
A drunken woman-beater who rammed a metal pole into his girlfriend’s face, poked her eye and punched her during a fit of jealous rage has avoided being jailed.Bullying Jamie Allison had been in a relationship with his victim for around 15 months when he went to her house in Rotherham on June 1 and began interrogating her about her movements earlier that day, Sheffield Crown Court heard.
The intoxicated 32-year-old poked his partner in the eye, causing her vision to blur, before grabbing a metal pole from her bed frame and ramming it into her chin.
Prosecutor Martin Robertshaw told the court that Allison then pushed his girlfriend into the bathroom and, despite her pleas to stop, he lost all control and continued to push the metal pole into her face.
His victim’s chin began to bleed and she fell to the floor, landing on her left wrist.
As she then made her way down the stairs, Allison pushed her, causing her to fall on her backside and hurting her back.
Later, while both were in the bedroom, Allison struck his partner across her face with the back of his hand, connecting with her eye.
He then knocked her against the wardrobe, causing her to hit her head and eye.
Allison refused to leave the house, and his partner eventually called her father, who then contacted the police.
However, Allison was no longer at the property when police arrived.
He was arrested when he returned to his girlfriend’s home two weeks later.
His partner also provided a recording of a conversation during which Allison urged her to change her statement.
Mr.
Robertshaw stated that Allison apologized for his actions and claimed he would not do it again if she changed her statement.
The court heard that Allison had previously been convicted of assaulting another woman and threatening to “smash her head in” last year.
Despite this, Recorder Anthony Hawks decided not to send him to prison immediately, opting instead to suspend a jail sentence so Allison can work on his relationships and drinking.
The judge described him as “a violent drunk bully” and noted that his recent behavior was “true to form.” Allison, of Fox Terrace, Ealand, Lincolnshire, admitted to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, three counts of assault by beating, one count of criminal damage, and one count of perverting the course of justice.
His latest offences also breached a community order imposed last year for assaulting another woman.
That order was revoked, and he was sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He will also participate in a six-month alcohol treatment program and is banned from contacting his victim under a five-year restraining order.
The judge warned him to “watch your step.”
