James Wilson, a 74-year-old man from Gateshead, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence of 21 years after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving children. The conviction came after a jury at Newcastle Crown Court found Wilson guilty of 13 separate charges, which included indecent assaults and the incitement of a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.Wilson’s crimes spanned over several years, during which he used his religious beliefs as a guise to conceal his predatory behavior. His victims, whose identities remain protected, described how their childhoods were irreparably damaged by his actions. They expressed their belief that Wilson should spend the remainder of his life behind bars, emphasizing the profound psychological scars he left behind.
