SEXUAL PREDATOR WHO TARGETED TEENAGE GIRL JAILED
from 2021.A man from West Cumbria has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a teenage girl who later described him to authorities as a repulsive predator.
James Nixon, aged 62, was accused of touching the girl’s breasts, slapping her bottom, stroking her thigh, and speaking to her in a sexually explicit manner, as reported during his hearing at Carlisle Crown Court.
Furthermore, Nixon called her attractive, offered money to watch her undress, and discussed performing a lewd act with her while she was in his company.
Following police intervention, Nixon appeared in court and confessed to three charges, which included two counts of sexual assault and one charge of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a minor.
In a statement, the girl outlined the profound impact of Nixon’s offending — of suffering nightmares with him in them; of waking up in a sweat; and having to make sure all doors were locked because, she said, “I am a nervous wreck”.
“It has changed me and my life in so many ways.
I hate him for it,” stated the girl, who spoke of Nixon being “a horrible predator in my eyes”.
“I will always have to live with what he has done to me.
I hope he is made to pay for that.” Judge Barker heard Nixon’s criminal conduct had occurred against a backdrop of failing health and amid previous concerns about the early onset of dementia.
But despite hearing mitigation and reading detailed background reports, Judge Barker concluded that Nixon, of The Laurels, Egremont, should serve the 12-month jail term he was being given immediately.
The judge said of his offending: “It was a campaign — that’s the right word; certainly a course of conduct of sexualised behaviour and sexual assault upon a young, impressionable female.
“These are one-off events for children of that age,” added the judge.
“You have robbed her of much of what should be carefree, developing years.”
