JAMES HARRIS FROM THORNLEBANK SENTENCED FOR ABUSE IN GLASGOW AND STIRLING
In April 2023, a man named James Harris, residing in Thornliebank, East Renfrewshire, was convicted of a disturbing series of abuse and assault charges spanning over a decade, involving multiple victims across Glasgow and Stirling. Harris, aged 52, faced a High Court trial in Glasgow where he was accused of heinous acts committed between 1999 and 2009.During the proceedings, Harris denied all allegations, attempting to refute the accusations brought against him. However, the court found him guilty of seven separate charges, including the rape of a teenage girl in Stirling. The court heard that Harris had restrained the girl during the assault, which added a layer of brutality to the crime. Additionally, he was convicted of physically assaulting her by grabbing her by the throat, an act that caused her difficulty in breathing and demonstrated a clear intent to intimidate and harm.
The evidence also revealed that Harris had previously attacked other children, including a young boy and a toddler. The young boy was subjected to a series of violent acts, including having cigarettes extinguished on his body, being punched, kicked, headbutted, and having his head held underwater. The toddler was physically assaulted with a belt, an act that caused significant concern among the court officials and the jury.
Furthermore, Harris was found guilty of exposing himself in front of a young girl, adding a disturbing element to his pattern of predatory behavior. The court convicted him on multiple counts, including rape, five charges of assault, and lewd and libidinous conduct. The severity of his actions and the repeated nature of his offenses painted a grim picture of his conduct over the years.
Harris’s legal representative, Geoffrey Forbes, did not request bail to be continued, indicating the gravity of the case and the court’s stance on his detention. Judge Norman MacFadyen decided to defer sentencing until next month, pending reports that will determine the appropriate punishment for Harris’s crimes. The case has drawn significant attention due to the serious nature of the offenses and the impact on the victims involved.
