THORNLIEBANK MAN CAUGHT IN VIGILANTE STING OVER ONLINE CHAT WITH 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A PERVERT who thought he was talking online with a 14-year-old girl was snared by vigilantes posing as delivery drivers.Fayadh Ismail, a 39-year-old man from Glasgow's Thornliebank area, was confronted at his home and later arrested after the decoy contacted him.
Ismail had told the decoy that he would love to have sex with a little girl last May and sent material online, with the chats showing he discussed sex and asked for pictures.
The decoy told Ismail she was 14 while he claimed to be 25, before asking if she was married.
The pair originally communicated via the Waplog app and then continued on WhatsApp.
Prosecutor Cheryl Lyons said the chat became more sexualised and Ismail asked for pictures of the girl.
The decoy stopped communication after a week when vigilantes travelled to Glasgow to confront him; they dialed his mobile number under the pretence of being delivery personnel, and he provided his address.
The encounter on the decoy's service was streamed on Facebook.
Ismail pleaded guilty to attempting to cause a child to view a sexual image and also admitted attempting to communicate indecently with a child.
The court heard that he was a first offender.
Sentence was deferred until the end of the month by Sheriff Ian Fleming, who continued Ismail's bail meantime.
