DUNDEE ABUSER POURED MONSTER DRINK OVER PARTNER AND SMASHED HER DOORS IN ‘SUSTAINED, VIOLENT COURSE OF CONDUCT’
A court heard how a Dundee abuser poured a whole can of Monster energy drink over his ex-partner’s head, destroyed the doors in her property and repeatedly injured and spat on her.James Campbell also smashed her mobile phone off a wall and threw a plate at her, breaking it, during months of terror.
The 27-year-old was narrowly spared a prison sentence for abusing his victim between April 2022 and March 2024 in the Fintry area.
Dundee Sheriff Court was told how most incidents occurred in early to mid-2023, shortly after the woman had given birth.
Fiscal depute Angie Clay recounted incidents including Campbell throwing a deodorant can at her thigh, pushing her over causing bruising, smashing doors, damaging property, spitting on her, and pouring a full can of Monster on her.
Campbell previously pled guilty to an abusive course of conduct toward her and faced sentencing.
The sheriff described his crimes as a “sustained, violent course of conduct,” noting the timing after the woman gave birth.
Campbell was ordered to perform 180 hours of unpaid work, follow social work supervision, and undertake the Caledonian Programme for domestic abusers for two years.
A non-harassment order banning contact will also be in place for five years.
