JAMES ADAMS BUSTED IN BROUGHTY FERRY WITH NEARLY 4,000 CHILD AND ANIMAL INDECENT IMAGES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Broughty Ferry, police uncovered a significant collection of illegal and highly disturbing material belonging to James Adams, a 62-year-old resident of Claypotts Road. The investigation was initiated after a credible tip-off prompted law enforcement officers to conduct a thorough search of Adams' home, revealing a staggering number of illicit images and videos.

During the police raid, officers discovered approximately 293 indecent images of children, along with 26 videos depicting minors engaged in sexual activities. In addition to these, they found an alarming collection of around 3,500 extreme pornographic images and 76 videos featuring extreme acts. These findings paint a disturbing picture of Adams' online activity, which spanned several years.

Adams was formally charged and later admitted to possessing these indecent images of children at his residence between December 5, 2007, and July 25, 2013. He also pleaded guilty to possessing images that depicted adult females involved in sexual acts with animals, with the relevant period being from March 28, 2011, to July 25, 2013. The court proceedings revealed that Adams, who has no prior criminal record, was candid about his activities during police interviews.

According to court reports, Adams confessed to police that he was addicted to pornography and that his interest in child pornography began approximately five to six years prior to his arrest. He claimed that he used his wife’s computer tower to access these illicit images, asserting that she was unaware of his activities. Despite his claims of addiction, the evidence found was extensive and deeply troubling.

Further details from the court indicated that the images of children ranged in age from five to seventeen years old, depicting both girls and boys. The severity of the case led to Adams being placed on the sex offenders register for a period of three years. Additionally, he was subjected to a supervision order lasting nearly three years, with strict conditions imposed, including restrictions on his access to children under the age of 17 and limitations on his internet usage.

Judge Tom Hughes, presiding over the case, deferred sentencing until February 9 and granted Adams bail in the meantime. The case has raised serious concerns about online safety and the protection of minors, highlighting the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community awareness in combating such heinous crimes.
