PAEDOPHILE WHO BEGAN REOFFENDING JUST DAYS AFTER GETTING A SUSPENDED JAIL SENTENCE WAS TOLD BY A JUDGE IT’S “TOO LATE FOR TEARS”
A 25-year-old sex offender from Ystrad Mynach in Caerphilly county, Jake James, was sentenced to prison after reoffending shortly after receiving a suspended jail sentence. The judge told him there was “no more tears,” as he was sent to custody.
James had been handed a suspended sentence and a sexual harm prevention order in April 2025 for crimes including producing indecent images of children.
However, in May of the same year, he resumed his offending behaviour.
When two Gwent Police officers, tasked with monitoring him, visited his home, they discovered he had stored more child abuse images one of which depicted a baby being raped on his phone.
Furthermore, James breached the conditions of his sexual harm prevention order by downloading Snapchat, a self-deleting app, and deleting his internet activity.
He admitted to making 29 images classified as category A depicting rape along with 41 at category B, and 30 at category C, also breaching the prevention order.
His illegal activity occurred between May 1 and August 30, 2025.
His legal representative, Charles Archer, stated that James accepted that only immediate custody was appropriate and expressed remorse.
He requested a reduction of one-third for his early guilty pleas.
During sentencing, Judge Daniel Williams told James that it was too late for tears, emphasizing that every image represented a victim.
James was sentenced to 18 months in prison, with a minimum of half that duration served before potential release on license.
The time he spent in remand since arrest would count toward his sentence.
He will be required to register as a sex offender for ten years and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.
Additionally, he must pay a victim surcharge.
