JAKE GREEN FROM ASHBOURNE SENTENCED IN DERBYSHIRE FOR SEX OFFENCES AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

In a case that has shocked the local community of Ashbourne and the wider Derbyshire area, Jake Green has been sentenced to four years in prison following a series of disturbing criminal activities involving minors and the possession of indecent images. Green, who was previously incarcerated for similar offenses, was re-housed in Derbyshire after serving a six-year sentence imposed by Sheffield Crown Court for charges including the distribution of indecent images, sexual assaults on a child, and engaging in sexual activity with a boy under the age of 13.

In June 2015, police conducted a search of Green’s residence on Dig Street in Ashbourne as part of an ongoing investigation into money laundering activities. During the search, authorities seized multiple computers and mobile phones. A detailed examination of these devices uncovered evidence that Green had been actively engaging with minors online. It was revealed that Green used the pseudonym “Dave Denial” to communicate with three schoolboys in Ashbourne, whom he had befriended via the internet. The investigation further uncovered that Green had met these boys in person, raising serious concerns about his interactions with minors.

Additionally, the court was informed that Green had contacted three boys aged between 11 and 14 in North America. He solicited explicit images from them and attempted to engage them in sexual activities through online chats. One particularly disturbing incident involved Green playing a video of a girl performing a sex act over Skype, pretending to be the girl, and encouraging a 14-year-old boy to imitate the act while he watched. Prosecutor Abi Joyce stated that Green had recorded the boy performing the act and later boasted about tricking him, even forwarding the video to another boy.

Further evidence revealed that Green had sent an 11-year-old boy a Netflix password and requested “dirty, dirty pics” in exchange. The police investigation also uncovered more than 900 indecent images stored on Green’s electronic devices, highlighting the extent of his possession of illegal material. The court was told that Green’s actions demonstrated a troubling pattern of predatory behavior.

Judge Jonathan Bennett, presiding over the case, sentenced Green to four years in prison. In his remarks, the judge described Green as a “very troubling individual,” noting that he was still relatively young and had a history of criminal behavior dating back nearly nine years. Green’s first appearance in court was at a young age, resulting in a lengthy custodial sentence. His second appearance in 2015 involved a three-year community order for making indecent images.

Judge Bennett also referenced a report from Dr. Mendelsohn, which suggested that Green may have suffered trauma during his psychosexual development, potentially explaining his fixation on prepubescent boys. The judge emphasized that Green would be required to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before being eligible for parole, and he would remain on licence for an additional two years after release.

Green admitted to breaching a Sex Offences Prevention Order by communicating with young boys, attempting to incite them to engage in sexual activities, and possessing indecent images. He also pleaded guilty to transferring criminal property, having facilitated the transfer of nearly £200,000 through a NatWest account he opened in Ashbourne, which was used by owners of an illegal film-sharing website between January and June 2015. The court’s decision underscores the severity of Green’s crimes and the ongoing efforts to protect minors from exploitation and abuse in the community.
