ASHBOURNE MAN CHARGED WITH RAPING A WOMAN IN A CARAVAN
A man has been formally accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Ashbourne.Law enforcement officials received a report shortly before 11:55am on Friday (17 October) from a woman who claimed she had been raped inside a caravan situated on Mill Lane.
The incident was said to have taken place on the evening of Wednesday, 15 October.
It is believed that the assault happened after the woman connected with a man through an online dating platform.
The individual, Casey Henry, residing on Mill Lane in Ashbourne, was taken into custody on Saturday (18 October).
He was subsequently charged with rape and indecent assault by penetration.
Henry, aged 40, was held in police detention and did not appear in court until a hearing at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on the morning of Monday, 20 October.
He has been remanded to prison and is scheduled to appear at Derby Crown Court on 17 November.
