JAHANGIR NAZAR FROM OLDHAM CONVICTED OF MURDERING HIS WIFE IN BAMFORD STREET

Jahangir Nazar, a 35-year-old resident of Oldham, has been found guilty of the brutal murder of his wife, Farkhanda Younis. The tragic incident took place at her residence on Bamford Street, where Nazar carried out a violent and relentless attack. According to reports, the assault was characterized as both frenzied and merciless, with Farkhanda Younis suffering at least 19 stab wounds during the attack.

Prior to the trial, Nazar had admitted to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, a plea that was ultimately rejected by the court. Instead, he was tried for murder and received a sentence of a minimum of 22 years in prison. The court's decision underscores the severity of the crime and the lack of mitigation for his actions.

Authorities described Nazar as possessing traits of possessiveness, control, and paranoia, which are believed to have contributed to the tragic outcome. The family of the victim reportedly believed that the murder was motivated by her desire to end her marriage, which she had been trying to do due to ongoing domestic violence. Following the attack, Nazar fled the scene but was apprehended three days later. His arrest occurred while he was attempting to leave the United Kingdom with a substantial amount of cash, raising further questions about his intentions and state of mind.
