JACK SELLERS FROM DRIFFIELD ESCAPES PRISON AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ON 3-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN JUNE 2016
In June 2016, Jack Sellers, a resident of Driffield, faced serious legal proceedings after being convicted of a grave sexual offense involving a young child. The case was heard at Beverley Magistrates Court, where Sellers was found guilty of one count of sexual assault of a female under the age of 13 by penetration, specifically digital penetration, which involves the use of fingers to sexually penetrate the victim's vagina. It was revealed during the court proceedings that Sellers was a friend of the victim's family, which added a disturbing layer to the case. The incident dates back to 2015 when Sellers was approximately 15 and a half years old. During that year, he took it upon himself to invite a three-year-old girl and another young child to take a bath. Sellers claimed he intended to wash them and make them clean, but his actions crossed into criminal territory.
The court was presented with a distressing account from the victim's mother, who recounted an incident that occurred a few days after the bath. While she was taking a shower, her young daughter approached her and asked, “Mummy why don’t you stick your fingers in your minnie moo to wash it?” The mother responded, “You don’t ever wash inside darling, it cleans itself.” The girl then revealed, “Jack washed my minnie moo with his fingers and it hurt here,” pointing to her lower abdomen.
When questioned about whether Sellers had threatened her, the young girl stated, “Jack said, if you tell anybody the easter bunny won’t come.” This chilling statement underscored the manipulation and intimidation involved in the abuse.
The victim continues to suffer from nightmares, anxiety, and panic attacks, which are direct consequences of the traumatic experience inflicted upon her. The court recognized the severity of the offense and the lasting impact on the young girl.
As part of his sentencing, Jack Sellers was ordered to complete a three-year youth rehabilitation program. Additionally, he was subjected to a 30-month sexual harm prevention order, aimed at restricting his contact with minors and preventing further offenses. Despite the gravity of his actions, Sellers has not shown remorse and has even denied his conviction, claiming it was never published in the press due to his age at the time. Now that he has passed the age of 18, he can be legally named and identified in connection with this case. Sellers recently joined the army but was medically discharged, and he continues to deny any wrongdoing.
