DURHAM MAN SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR HORRIFIC DOMESTIC ABUSE CAMPAIGN
A 21-year-old named Jack Robson from Durham has received a custodial sentence following a series of severe domestic abuse episodes.Robson's assault on his partner involved attempts to forcibly extract her teeth using metal pliers, and he also threatened to use a drill to injure her eye.
The Durham Crown Court was informed that Robson kept his partner against her will, made threats including killing her, her family, and pets, and exercised control over her by monitoring her phone and deleting her social media accounts.
During the assault, he physically attacked her, kicking, punching, and biting, which resulted in her losing consciousness on multiple occasions.
He also held her captive repeatedly, made threats to kill her or her loved ones, and left her with significant bruising.
After one incident involving mole grips on May 17, the victim sought medical attention and reported the assault to police.
Durham Police arrested Robson at his Leadgate home and charged him with deliberate strangulation and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
On the same day at Durham Crown Court, he was sentenced to four years in prison and issued a restraining order.
Detective Ashley Marsden commended the victim’s bravery, noting that her cooperation was instrumental in securing Robson’s conviction.
Although the sentence offers some closure, it cannot undo the trauma experienced.
Durham Police, along with organizations such as the Meadows Sexual Assault Referral Centre and Harbour charity, continue to support victims of domestic violence, highlighting the importance of reporting abuse and seeking help.
