JACK FRANKUM FROM CHERITON BISHOP SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN DEVON FIELD

In a case that has shocked the local community, Jack Frankum, a 28-year-old man from Cheriton Bishop, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman in a remote field in Devon. The incident occurred during the evening hours of August 2019, in a secluded area where the victim had stopped to urinate.

According to court proceedings, Frankum approached the woman and asked her for a lift home from an agricultural event. As she complied and stopped in the remote location, he subjected her to a sexual assault, which escalated to rape. The woman, whose identity remains protected, described her experience as traumatic and deeply disturbing.

Despite Frankum’s denial of the charges, the jury at Exeter Crown Court found him guilty after a thorough trial. The court heard that after the assault, Frankum behaved as if nothing had happened, attempting to engage in casual conversation and small talk with the victim, which added to her distress.
