BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AFTER VICTIM'S COVERT RECORDING
A man has been sentenced following his teenage victim secretly recording his admission to rape.
The girl, who must remain anonymous for legal reasons, told Jack Frankland she did not want to engage in sexual activity, but he persisted despite her objections.
Prosecutor David Hall told Bradford Crown Court that the victim was able to secretly record segments of their conversation, during which Frankland apologized for raping her.
He later sent her a message asking her not to report him to the police, but she chose to go ahead with the report, resulting in his arrest.
Frankland, who is 21 years old, claimed that all encounters were consensual and denied any sexual intercourse.
He was only brought to court more than two years after the offense, a delay that Judge Colin Burn called 'unjustifiable.' In September last year, Frankland pleaded guilty to the rape, and on the following Monday, he was sentenced to 32 months in prison.
He also received an additional 16-month sentence for stealing a Rolex watch during a social media deal, alongside sentences for other charges including assault, possession of a knife, and violating a restraining order.
During the sentencing, Judge Burn issued indefinite restraining orders to prevent contact with the victim, his mother, and other people, as well as requiring him to sign the sex offender register permanently.
Frankland’s defense team showed remorse, and he is now subject to strict restrictions aimed at preventing further offenses.
