JACK DELANEY'S BRUTAL CRUELTY IN ACCRINGTON: DOG BEATING SHOCKER

Jack Delaney, born on May 27, 1993, who was previously residing in Haslingden, Rossendale, Lancashire, and more recently at 607 Blackburn Road, Rising Bridge, Accrington BB5 2SB, has been convicted of heinous animal cruelty. The incident that led to his conviction involved the brutal abuse of a defenseless dog, captured on a neighbor’s tablet device, revealing a disturbing outburst that lasted approximately five minutes.

In the footage, Delaney is seen physically assaulting a two-year-old bulldog named Biggy. The video shows him slapping the dog multiple times before grabbing him and forcefully throwing him against his back gate. Following this, he drags the terrified animal into a back street where he proceeds to kick him repeatedly. The severity of the abuse is evident, and it appears that Delaney, who has a history of drug-related convictions, had previously battered the dog on several occasions. Witnesses and reports suggest that Biggy was extremely frightened of Delaney, indicating a pattern of violent behavior towards the animal.

Concerns about Delaney’s treatment of Biggy had been raised well before the incident. In April 2014, the RSPCA was called to Delaney’s residence after multiple reports from neighbors about his violent treatment of the dog. At that time, no legal action was taken. However, in July 2014, another inspector visited Delaney’s home following further concerns that the dog was being beaten. During this visit, Delaney claimed that the dog had escaped and had run across the road to attack another dog. He stated that he had hit Biggy to discipline him because nothing else seemed to work.

Just four days after this explanation, a neighbor witnessed Delaney shouting abuse at Biggy and punching him through her kitchen window. The neighbor reported that the dog did not react but appeared visibly terrified. She also observed Delaney hitting the dog with what seemed to be a piece of wood, striking him three to five times without the dog making any sound. Another neighbor intervened, shouting at Delaney to stop hitting the animal. The neighbor described the incident as seemingly lasting forever, highlighting the prolonged nature of the abuse.

Following these events, police were called and spoke with both Delaney and the neighbor who recorded the incident. Subsequently, Delaney returned to the neighbor’s home two weeks later and was reported to have dumped his bins on her front garden. The police later seized Biggy, the dog involved in the abuse.

During police interviews, Delaney claimed to have owned Biggy since he was six weeks old and described the dog’s temperament as “perfect.” He admitted to not recalling much about the specific incident but acknowledged that the dog was urinating and defecating inside the house, which led him to lose his temper. He confessed to throwing water over Biggy and banging him off the fence. Delaney accepted that his actions were wrong and stated he had lost control of his temper. As part of the court proceedings, he signed over ownership of Biggy to the RSPCA.

Delaney’s solicitor explained that her client had recently begun using anabolic steroids, which she claimed had contributed to his aggressive behavior. She also highlighted that Delaney, who has learning difficulties, Asperger’s Syndrome, and ADHD, receives disability living allowance and employment support allowance. The solicitor noted that Delaney had not been properly taught how to house-train the dog.

In sentencing, Delaney received an 18-month community order, including 18 months of probation supervision and 60 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £1,400 in boarding costs to the RSPCA, £330 in compensation, and a £60 statutory surcharge. Additionally, he was banned from owning dogs for two years, although this ban expired in 2017.
