IVOR KISSICK FROM COLERAINE AND PORTSTEWART ESCAPES JAIL AFTER VOYEURISM CONVICTION
In December 2012, a disturbing case involving Ivor Kissick, a man from Portstewart and previously associated with Coleraine, came to light when he was convicted of voyeurism charges. Despite his guilty plea, Kissick, aged 43, managed to avoid spending the Christmas period behind bars, as his sentencing was scheduled for January 14. This delay has sparked reactions within the local community, with many expressing their disdain for his actions.According to court records, Kissick used a concealed camera to secretly film an unsuspecting female victim as she washed and dried herself. The recordings, which he made between January and March 2011, consisted of four separate short films that captured the victim in vulnerable moments. His actions were driven by sexual gratification, and he pleaded guilty to four counts of voyeurism during a recent session at Antrim Crown Court.
Locals in Coleraine, where Kissick previously resided, have voiced their opinions about his conduct. A source from the town described him as an arrogant individual who is generally disliked, adding, “Ivor is an arrogant character and not well liked, he will be even less popular when people find out he is a pervert.” The source also noted that Kissick’s reputation has been further tarnished by his criminal behavior.
Kissick’s address is listed as Lever Road in Portstewart. Prior to his conviction, he was employed at the Bull’s Eye Bar in Coleraine but later moved to work at Shenanigans, a venue near his home on the north coast. Currently, he is working at a kebab shop in Coleraine, a fact that has caused concern among local residents. One customer expressed their apprehension, stating, “I don’t want to get served by a pervert. God knows where his filthy hands have been.”
In addition to the jail sentence, Kissick is likely to face registration requirements as a sex offender, which may involve signing the Sex Offenders’ Register for a specified period. His criminal record also includes earlier allegations from May 2012, when he appeared in court accused of voyeurism, taking an indecent photo of a child, and possessing an indecent image of a female. These charges relate to incidents between January 16 and April 4, 2011.
During that hearing at Coleraine Magistrates Court, Kissick was granted bail set at £500. He was also ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and prohibited from having contact with children or possessing any digital media devices. The case was adjourned until June 20, pending further proceedings, but the recent conviction confirms the seriousness of his offenses and the community’s concern over his actions.
