DONCASTER THUG ISAAC GREAVES JAILED OVER TWO-DAY HOSTAGE ORDEAL
A Doncaster man named Isaac Greaves has been sentenced to a total of three years and nine months in jail after he held his ex-girlfriend hostage in a hotel for two days, during which he threatened her with violence and physically assaulted her.Greaves, 24 years old and residing on South Street in Highfields, was wanted by police following a series of disturbing events that took place in November last year.
He ordered his victim, a woman in her 20s, to meet him at a hotel in West Yorkshire, fearing he would harm her if she refused.
Once there, he aggressively confronted her, saying: "I will batter you in this hotel room right now," and adding that he would "smash her head off the wall." Greaves’s behavior became increasingly menacing as he instructed her to leave the hotel, warning that he would "smash her house up" if she did not comply.
When she returned to the hotel with his belongings after he demanded she do so, Greaves left with a friend, fleeing the scene.
The victim quickly disclosed the assault to a doctor, which led to Greaves’s arrest.
During the incident, Greaves strangled her — grabbing her neck with both hands — and punched her in the head, shoving her into a desk in a violent outburst.
She managed to escape and avoid further injury, but Greaves threatened her life again, telling her to get into his car or he would kill her.
He forcibly drove down the motorway while pulling on the handbrake erratically, then ordered her to return to the hotel to collect his belongings.
Out of fear, she complied, but he left with a friend and was later captured and detained by police.
Greaves pleaded guilty to charges of intentional strangulation, assault by beating, and criminal damage related to the events from November 21 to November 24, 2023.
He also admitted to affray stemming from a separate hotel fight in Doncaster on November 4, 2023.
In court at Sheffield Crown Court, Greaves was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.
PC Jessica Needham, leading the case, commented on his actions, stating: "Greaves' disturbing, menacing and disgusting behaviour terrified his victim to the point where she had no choice but to do everything he asked of her.
His victim said she never knew if she was going to meet the 'nice Isaac' or the 'evil Isaac,' and during the last episode, he revealed his truly evil nature.
I want to commend her bravery for coming forward and disclosing what had happened to her.
Without her testimony, Greaves could still be wandering our streets.
His sentence should reassure victims that domestic abuse is taken seriously, and we are here to protect and support them."
